This project involves the architectural study of the interior and exterior spaces of a two-story apartment in Kalamaria.

The main design axis focused on eliminating the visual fragmentation of the spaces caused by the strong presence of both columns and beams. At the same time, the desire for a calm and warm environment was a fundamental requirement for the apartment’s design. A key design tool was the use of wooden cladding, running peripherally on the masonry like a zone that unfolds below the height of the beams. The lighting placed on the upper part of the cladding emphasizes this zone and blurs the boundary between cladding and beams, creating a sense of height in the space. Wooden claddings are placed in all common areas and sections of the room walls, accommodating furniture at certain points, following a cohesive design language throughout the apartment. The use of wood and natural dyes applied to the walls results in an earthy and familiar outcome. The palette of the design materials is completed with marble and black color, emphasizing elements of the design and adding dynamism to the final result. The kitchen is treated as a unit, where the island is a continuation of the black marble floor, while its closed cabinets are part of the common wooden furniture shared with the living room, unifying these two spaces.

External functions organized around the pool, such as the dining-BBQ area, outdoor living space, and sun loungers, create relaxation zones with an unobstructed view of the city. Design-wise, these are addressed with built-in structures that seem to unfold and project as sculptural elements in the space.

This project concerns a typical apartment of an apartment building of the 60s, in the centre of Thessaloniki. In this design, the minimum possible setbacks were made in order not to change the position of the main spaces and to unify the living area along the length of the apartment. In this way, a bright, airy, airy and brightly lit perimeter zone is achieved throughout the day. The other spaces, the rooms and the bathroom, remain in the second longitudinal zone formed.

The design of the furniture has played an important role in delineating both the functions and in unifying the living, dining and kitchen areas, acting as a filter where necessary. A key premise in the design was a minimalist approach to the spaces, to create a calm environment for the user through clean and simple forms. The choice of the combination of white with oak, combined with the design approach of the furniture, where oak is used as a frame holding white volumes, conveys a unified design approach and a warm atmosphere in the residence, enhanced by the wooden flooring.

As for the children’s bedroom, the proposal is for a room for two children, with a variation in the construction of the bunk bed, where the sleeping area is placed in the lower part and an additional play area is created in the upper part, in the form of a tunnel. The design has been approached in a child-centered way, fostering the development of gross motor skills, a sense of discovery, adventure and privacy. The office furniture has been approached by design as a single form, where the chairs are part of it and the child is put into a process of play in order to discover them. Their design has been done in such a way that they have storage space in their seat. The tones remain warm, trying to have a unified treatment with the rest of the apartment.

This is a renovation of an apartment in a neoclassical building of the interwar period, in Thessaloniki. The main intention was to make the minimum possible intervention in the architectural elements that refer to the character of the apartment, while at the same time adding a modern design language, through clean and simple forms, combined with the use of color.

The plaster decoration, wooden flooring and window frame typologies were kept in their original form, while at the same time used as references for the new rooms created. Due to the original layout, combined with the owners’ new needs, the kitchen had to be relocated next to the living area. In this way the two-room zone was placed on one side of the apartment, next to the entrance, while on the other side the bedroom, a guest office and the bathroom were repositioned. The most important change is the new position of the kitchen, which now has a central importance in the space, compared to its old position, which was cut off and placed at the back of the apartment, as its new layout unifies the living and dining room. The color of the kitchen comes to emphasize its importance, both as the core of the living area and as a new addition. The guest office space is placed parallel to the existing corridor of the apartment, using a double internal door with glass, so that when closed it allows external light to illuminate the corridor of the apartment and when opened the above space is unified with the rest of the apartment. The plaster frame around the perimeter of the two-room spaces continues into the bedroom and bathroom area, creating horizontal zones in the spaces, which are accentuated by the differentiation of colors.

This is a renovation of an apartment in a minimalist line. The owner’s desire for a calm atmosphere inside his apartment placed the fireplace area in a central place in the space, creating a centrifugal element between the kitchen and the living room. The lines followed are simple and clean with soft tones and use of wood, giving the space a sense of clean and calm. The wooden ceiling comes to lend to the relaxed and warm atmosphere that was desired from the beginning. The rest of the spaces maintain the same design purity and warm tones.

This is the interior design of an apartment in Corfu. The large openings with the direct visual contact with the city and at the same time the fireplace in the center of the living areas were the main design axes in this project. Around the fireplace comes and is organized the living room while the dining room is placed between it and the kitchen as a point of transition and boundary. Plenty of light, light earthy tones, wooden flooring and wooden paneling on the ceilings create ideal spaces for relaxation and intimacy. Along with the above spaces, this apartment includes a bathroom and a dressing room in the common area, which follow the above two-room spaces in terms of materials and textures.

This is a proposal for the interior design of a two-storey apartment in an urban environment. In this particular apartment there was a strong need to separate the functions of the living room from those of the kitchen. The installation of central furniture comes to organize the space functionally. A section of the furniture also acts as a filter between the kitchen and the living room, keeping the kitchen area where food is prepared hidden up to a certain height, and from that point onwards horizontal blinds allow light to pass into the kitchen and create a lighter situation in the common area. At the same time, this construction embraces the dining room furniture with a horizontal element, unifying and separating the kitchen from the living room at the same time. Warm tones have been chosen, using wooden flooring, shades of brown in the furniture and earthy tones in the fabrics. A glass handrail is placed on the staircase leading to the bedrooms to give a stronger sense of integration between the two levels.
